Good Afternoon from Geneva!
Please find attached our report of the visit of
Peixian. The news are dramatic. SOS Saint Bernard Dog - International invites
you to carry on protesting intensively against this practice. We have again
the confirmation that Saint Bernard dogs are mainly used for reproduction and
not for slaughter. This is certainly not a better destiny. As you can see from
the report, we have found out that breeders do not only use the meat but also,
what they call the "tresor of dogs", of which Saint Bernard dogs are
very much concerned. We do not exagerate saying that these dogs live through
the same horror as the bears. When Chinese breeders speak about "operating"
a dog, we should not expect that the breeders worries about the pain the dog
will have to suffer from.
As menioned earlier in a e-mail, the Datong
breeding site has moved and not closed. We notice indeed that China is trying
to hide their activities more and more, as we get closer to the Olympic Games
2008.
Our organisation has therefore started using a
different tactic. We attach an example of our campaign. We ask them "What
would you say, if we would start breeding and promote pandas for their meat?
Saint Bernard dogs are for us what pandas are in China". To harm a panda,
means severe punishment in China and can go as far as enprisonment.
We received a message from a Chinese, saying, how we
could possibly compare a panda to a dog. We replied that a Saint Bernard dog
is probably even above a panda, as these dogs have saved thousands
of human lifes. A panda would certainly does not care about humans all
together.
Thank you for distributing this information as
largely as possible. We would like to remind you that our second petition we
had started together with Brigitte Bardot last year will go on until the
Olympic Games 2008. It is not an on-line petition. We would like people to
print them and send them to the Chinese embassies all over the world.
(examples available on our internet site) The Chinese ambassador in Paris has
received several hundred thousand petitions, but still remains silent. We now
decorate the exerior of our envelopes we send to the embassies. ....another
way of doing marketing...!
Kind regards
